Submitting a Document from the Uploads Tab

Objective

To submit a document using the Uploads tab in Direct Cost tool.

Background

To move a file you've uploaded into a project's official Documents register, making it accessible to others and potentially starting a review process.

Things to Consider

  • Required User Permissions:

    • You have a Standard or Admin permission level in the project's Documents tool.

Prerequisites

  • You need the 'Upload New Files' and 'Submit New Files' granular permissions enabled.

  • Ensure you have already uploaded one or more files to the Uploads tab. For example, dragging and dropping the files or using the Upload Files button).

Steps

  1. Click on the project you want to work in.

  2. Open the Documents Tool:

    • In the project's navigation menu, click the Documents tool.

  3. Navigate to the Uploads Tab:

    • Click on the Uploads tab. This is where files temporarily reside after being uploaded, before they are officially submitted.

  4. Select Files to Submit:

    • You will see a list of recently uploaded files.

    • Click the Submit button (often an airplane icon) next to that specific file to submit a single file. OR

    • Check the box next to each file you want to submit. Then, click the Submit button that appears at the top or bottom of the list to submit multiple files.

  5. Confirm Submission (if prompted):

    • A confirmation window might pop up. Review the file details.

    • Click Submit again in the confirmation window to finalize the action.

Outcome: The selected document(s) move from the Uploads tab to the main Documents tab (and into any specified folders). They are now official project documents, visible to other team members with the right permissions, and may trigger any associated document workflows, like a review or approval process.
